Selling/Trading to Registry Members

I recently received an email from someone stating that they were putting a card on eBay that was part of a registry I belonged to. I checked the link and while I was turned off by the price I thought it was pretty cool of him to make me aware...
How is this practice perceived within the PSA community? I know most people hate spam but if I were really after my registry then I would love to be contacted from people who could help me out. What do you guys think?

set from members of the boards contacting me. Without this help I wouldn't be as
far as I am now!! The boards are a great place to buy/sell/trade because of all the
feedback that can be found on ebays feedback and the guys on these boards vouching
for each others credibility because of other deals that have been made! My best
advice- If you're not sure if a deal/seller is legit, post your concerns on these boards and
a member(s) might be able to help you out! Paul
For me it depends. I can't stand it when somebody "alerts" me to their auction. I figure they're not trying to help me as much as put money in their pockets by trying to get extra bidders. I should probably thank them for saving me money, because their items immediately go off my watchlist.
I'm also not interested in knucklehead e-mails. Here is one I recently received....
Subject: fu puckett 10
Message: want it?
No name given, picture, link or anything. That was it!
However, if someone contacts me with a coherent message with something they are interested in selling, I'm happy to listen and very appreciative. I've done many, many transactions this way and will continue to do more.
Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
To that end - I am four cards away from closing my 1967 set - and I don't mind a little help.
I need a #71 Pascual (I have yet to see a perfectly square 50/50 example) .... any out there? Premium paid if it is truely 50/50 with no diamond cut.
I need a # 585 Bunker (tends to be oc top to bottom) - another premium paid if you have a perfect to near perfectly centered example.
I need a #150 Mantle and Seaver rookie which I will buy as the last two cards of my set.
Once completed I will offer my set for viewing with photos; as well as a discloure as to individuals that helped buid this set;
Statistics about percentages of cards graded by me and purchased from other individuals..... and anything else that I can think of that you registry guys might find interesting.
Probably will also share the amout of my total investment in the set. I could shock some based on the amount some individuals spend on PSA 9's and 10 at open auction vs. what I spent (personally graded over 90% of the set - with a GPA of almost 8.4)
Again I would love help with the pascual; I have a raw bunker that graded a 7 - but I might try it one more time for the 8....
I would also welcome any specific questions you might have concerning this set.
And - I can't wait to start my next three ventures
Finish my 40% compete 1965 set and my 15% percent compete 1964 standup set.
and begin putting together a 1955 bowman set ( I have approx. 40 PSA 8's)
The bowman set will drive me crazy - for sure!

Collector of 1964 Topps Stand Ups, 1965 Embossed, 1968 Topps Game and 1969 Topps Decals
Registered Sets: 1964 Stand Ups, 1965 Embossed, 1968 Topps Game, 1969 Topps Decals
I've also gotten some great input - and a couple of tough cards - from some members of the 53 set registry (notably the 53 Kid, who hooked me up with a PSA-6 McDougald and a few others - if you're reading this, I'm preparing a big submission right now!). And of course, a wealth of info on the 77 set from DGF.
The registry is, as I say, DOPE. Used to be really tough to complete a set in ANY grade, just by going to card shops and shows. The internet, Ebay, and PSA have changed this hobby into a community, where you can find people who have IDENTICAL collecting interests to you, and help one another out.
That being said, if I look at it as a community, then I welcome anyone alerting me to cards that might help me complete my sets. What bugs me a bit is when I get added to someone's email distribution list, and then get spammed with all their promotional email. I'm more than happy to look through a list of cards from a set I'm working on - I'm NOT interested in receiving more spam. I get plenty of that as it is!

What's annoying is getting mail from someone offering you cards that have nothing to do with any of your set registries.
a name like cresentvarrone who is somebody I maybe bought one or two cards
from, and its details of every card put up whether its anything I specifically collect or not.
That's borderline spam to me.
1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
