Beckett sold for over $20 million

Thought many of you would be interested in this:

Apprise Media has acquired Beckett Publications of Dallas, Texas in a deal worth more than $20 million. Beckett currently publishes nine monthly price guides for collectibles and trading cards and operates one of the most active hobby web sites at www.beckett.com. In addition, the company operates Beckett Grading Services, one of the leading card grading services.

    As someone who has way too many Beckett annuals and monthly price guides still taking up space in my attic and computer area after a couple decades of collecting, maybe I just found the announcement too interesting.

    I was also a little surprised by the amount. Dave and Adam's estimated sales of over $25 million in 2003 alone. Would have thought that the Beckett "brand", all the magazines, the web site and grading service might be worth more than $20 million. Somewhat telling...
