I won an auction for a set of the hi/lo leaf Wisconsin quarters and just received the following email:

Dear Lee C Lydston,

The following listing:

3953398433 - Very rare "upleaf" Wisconsin 2004D state quarter error

has been removed from eBay for violating eBay policy. Since this listing was removed, you are not required to complete the transaction.

Has anybody else received one of these? I have not paid yet but I am really curious as to what is going on? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

It's hard to tell from eBay's email what the deal was. It could be that the seller just violated some minor listing rule and got called out on it. It's not necessarily a scam.

Any way to find out what happened? I received two of these, one for a set which I won and another for a single coin low-leaf which I did not win. It makes me wonder whats going on?

  • I received the same email, for an auction I already paid for. The Seller dropped me an email right after I paid saying they were going to ship the next day, and their feedback shows 2 folks who already got the quarters. I will email her and see if she can shed any light on the subject.

  • I saw a guy selling "Tuscon" rolls, but I checked his feedback and it shows that he bought a box out of Texas and it looks like he's trying to sell the rolls on ebay as being from "Tuscon".
  • I received a simular email for an auction I bid on, but didn't win.

The auction was for a proof Silver mint set run. 1999---2004, I believe it was a board members auction.

Couldn't figure out why I got the email since I didn't win anything, thought scam and place the email in file 13.

Don't keep it a secret - we would all like to know what's going on.

  • I received the e-mail for the auction you mentioned 3953398433 and also 3953397406.
Both were for the quarters and neither were won by me.

Edit to add: 3953398433 was for a singlr upleaf coin and sold for about $230 I think. Perhaps a shill.

I got that too. I got that before on another auction and that auction was relisted because the seller want to charge extra for Paypal.

  • I questioned another seller after receiving one and they said e-bay pulled their auction for using someones Wisconsin quarter photos.

That one knows what he's doing, he'll just say he never claimed they were from Tucson.

Could it be someones idea of a little email joke?
If so, it aint that funny.
But it could be what flaminio said.
  • It appears that someone complained that she was using a "borrowed" picture, and that resulted in the auctions being pulled.

Sorry for the "secret" implication but I did not want to broadcast the sellers name or identity I just wanted to compare notes.

I did email the seller and ask what was up with EBAY pulling the auction and the seller confirmed that he/she had used someone elses photo's which is a big no-no with EBAY. My biggest concern here was that the pulling of the auction came AFTER I had won the the bidding along with another buyer. (Multiple coin auction) Additionally, I received the same email for an auction that I did not win, therefore, I was just wondering what was up and how many of these email actually went out.

Thanks to everyone for their responses!!
