U.S. Cents: 1982 zinc (lightweight)

Can anyone advise me of the cost of the 1982 zinc cents ? I understand there were very few minted, but I can't find a figure for the quantity of the zinc minting for 1982. Does anyone have any for sale ? How much ?

There are many varieties of zinc cents from 1982. I'm not familiar with values per variety and perhaps one of them is tough. But, basically, I believe that just 1982 zinc cents should be quite common.....Check this out....

The link in thebeav's message shows the mintages, but I do wish that webmaster would write in English. Nerd.

In any case, none of the various varieties of 1982 cents are particularly rare, and you should be able to glean most of them out of circulation for a penny apiece. If you want them all at once, there's always a bunch on eBay, for example this one.

Does PCGS certify the seven different 1982 cents yet? NGC and ANACS both do...

No Pcgs doesn't (but should!) denote the different varieties. It is funny.... pcgs denotes Indian or Lincoln on the slab for 1909 cents (like we can't tell the difference!) yet doesn't denote zinc or copper on 1982 cents (like the difference is obvious!)

By the way winwin... I have tons of rolls or singles of 1982 zinc cents that I'm willing to sell. Has anyone ever asked HRH why PCGS doesn't show these varieties? I can see not wanting to get caught up in the sm date/lg date stuff, but IMHO the copper vs zinc difference is exceedingly significant.

I'm waiting until I get all 7 of them in top grade before I ask HRH about it. The last thing I need is for them all to be in the reg set and prices on the ones I need skyrocket... image

Sneaky. I like it. Yes, perhaps it's a good thing that PCGS doesn't recognize these. As long as the registry flunkies aren't chasing them, the prices stay down.
