    NOT a double die.

    K S
  • I'm an expert, but I see NO doubling....
  • The serif on the 1 looks DDO to me. The rest of the doubling looks strike doubled.
Can't tell 100% if its DDO or strike doubling. Check CONECA.

edit: also the lower serifs on the E and R look DDO. Look carefully at these. If
they are separated and raised you've got a DDO.

I think the doubling is real. There are about 100 different minor doubled dies for the year, but most have not been assigned any identifying numbers. What is the mint mark, and can you do a close up of IGWT that is more clear?

there is no mint mark, it is in a 1943 pcgs ms66 holder , it has all the markings from the red book

On the pics of the circulated piece, you can clearly see the doubling on the one in the date, and Liberty.

If you could get a better shot of those two, along with IGWT, I could tell you right away if you have a DD. I might can even tell you which one. I have pics of a hundred different 1943 DD's, that have been attributed or otherwise.

  • BIGDAVE, those are two different coins, right? You have both? I'm just being nosey. The circulated one used to be mine. image
I recognized the pictures. It's the only coin I ever sold.

No, I don't mind at all. For some reason, I thought that the one and only coin that I ever sold was making the rounds.
    Good luck with yours.

After playing with your pics a little, I can tell you that the mint state coin is not the same variety as the circulated one. If you can get the MS coin pics a little clearer, I don't mind helping you attribute it.

I understand completely. Try to catch the creases in the shadows of the light and they will show up better. It's like riding a bicycle, so once you get the hang of it, you'll be ok.

new picture of the L image
  • DMWJRDMWJR Posts: 6,006 ✭✭✭✭✭
That's not doubling on the top of the crossbar on the "L".

How about the right side of the "1" in the date, and IGWT?
