text message that was sent by ebay message service:

Dear rayovac,

that last second stealing crap is demeaning dont you think?

Please respond to the question on eBay by clicking the button below.

Thank you,

Did ebay change the rules to make sniping illegal? Is anybody else sniping? Are you receiving "threating" emails also?

Not to mention- He thinks his 44 second snipe is acceptable but your snipe wasn't! That makes it even funnier!

He's just a sucky sniper & I'd tell him so! image

I would complain back. It looks like you were sniped in the last seconds. They wanted to steal the lot and are upset they had to pay more.

His max bid won out, he might have even gone higher if there was competition. Needs some decaf.

You should send him the Sniped Crybaby graphic...

Maybe I am missing something here but I don't see anything threatening in the email. You might want to consider editing your topic. I am not sure it is acceptable to accuse someone of threats in an open forum and posting their ebay ID. Might lead to more trouble than it is worth.

I've gotten a handful of sour grapes eMails from losers over the years. I think it sweetens the win. image

Edit: Geez, this guy won the auction. What the hell is he whining about?

He's made because he was thinking he was going to get the coin for $49.
When you pushed it up to $66, he had to go up to $67 to get the coin.
Basicly, he feels you cost him $18 for the coin.

Here in California we'd call him a girly-manimage
Nobody twisted his arm to rebid (snipe back).

    What a sore winner.

Should tell him that you would have bid it up higher if you had a chance so he'd have to pay more.

The auction in question, for those who haven't bothered to look it up.

I wouldn't call it a threatening email; whining is more like it, but I really don't see what he has to whine about -- he's a sniper too, and he won. I might send a gloating email to an underbidder (most likely nothing at all), but this guy is just weird. I'm tempted to block him, but since he seems to like paying top dollar for coins in ANACS slabs, I rather hope he comes bidding my way.

Hmmm, do you think I ought to send UofA a nasty email for "costing me" $150? image

    Bid History
  • I've been sniped several times on Ebay by as little as 50 cents.

That's life. Hey, if someone else wants a coin more than me to the point where they are watching an auction at the closing minutes and seconds, that's fine with me.

  • Everyone here should e-mail mgarbin103 and complain about his sniping, or just tell him he sucks image
  • That's pretty sad and pathetic. Sure I don't like it when I'm sniped on something, and sure I've gotten pretty pissed about it, but wait a good five minutes and that emotion passes. As I found out many times before, there is always another thing coming down the road so be on the lookout for it.
