Although it doesn't have a memory card reader, the HP 1210 All-in-one is a very nice scanner/printer/copier. I bought one for $129, and, while the scans aren't incredible, they aren't too bad. It also prints very fast and has good print quality.

I have an Epson 2480 Photo scanner and am happy with it. Less than $100. I use a Lexar media card reader and it works fine. It cost about $20.

I have an HP 2210xi "All in One" that has been a workhorse. Good scans and color photos, and I've never had a lick of trouble.

    Hey Proof - Nice Icon!

I haven't been shopping for an all-in-one, but let me share what I found when I shopped for a stand-alone scanner 18 months ago. I bought one of those ultra thin Canon scanners for about $100. But it produced horrible scans compared to my old, clunky UMAX scanner. After some discussion with the Canon Tech Service guys, we determined that the LED scanners just won't cut it for scanning slabs. So they recommended a model with the older stype fluorescent tube in it. My scans were back to normal.

So, if there is a choice in light source, I would suspect that any unit that uses a tube type light source may produce better results than an LED source.
