I see, I usually think of them as white hair, so that's why I didn't get it! image

Well, if blue Morgans aren't your bag, how about a green one?

  • Any clue where either came from? You have to wonder if there were other chemicals in some old papers besides ordinary sulfur compounds. image

The 1880-S is envelope toned, the 81-S is bag toned.

Love the blue/violet in the 80-s
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

  • There's no directionality to the toning of the '80, so envelope makes sense. The rims of the '81 however seem to have a layer of post-bag storage toning (sort of crimson-sienna) within the denticles. Hard to figure, but nice attractive Morgans !!

Thanks Mark, they sure are. That 80-S used to come out looking awful before with the Reveals. And I like to have a balance between luster and color, so these lights seem to be working well for that. Even 250w seems a bit bright, I've had to increase the aperature and shutter speed to avoid over exposing the images.

Thanks Stuart. Did you see my thread last night regarding these new lights that can be used in the Testrite stands?
  • Nice pics Eric, I see you have the new setup pretty much figured outimage

That green 81 does it for me, I like it.
