PCI X-Over

I'm found an early Washington Quarter at my local dealer, but the coin is in a PCI slab. The coin is a PR67DCAM. I was wondering if anyone has been successful in crossing coins over from PCI into PCGS. If so what was the original grade in PCI and what grade did you end up with in PCGS.

I would also like a poll as to what you think a coin from PCI would do in a cross over. Should I expect the following

1.) PCGS would grade the same PR67

2.) PCGS would grade one point lower PR 66

3.) PCGS would grade two points lower PR 65

With regard to the cameo, which of the following would you expect in a cross over?

A.) PCGS would also grade a DCAM

B.) PCGS would grade a CAM

C.) PCGS would not grade a CAM

Thank You in advance for your humble opinion.

If it's a gold label, it is likely that:

1- The numerical grade will go down 1-3 points
2- The DCAM designation will be lost, or, unlikely, make CAM

It is impossible to specifically answer the question without actually seeing the coin. Generally speaking, though, with recently graded (Gold holder) PCI moderns you can count on a three to five point drop in the grade and losing the designation completely - even if it's graded DCAM.

The same is true if the PCI slab is green labeled and the 6s and 9s are rounded.

If the PCI slab is green and the 9s and 6s are straight/pointed, then you've got yourself one heck of a coin.

But Russ, how can you say that? We have another thread here telling us how two of these crossed at NGC, with one getting a star! image
