Cool Package

I received a cool package today via USPS. It came from Germany and had multiple wax seals all over it (evidently like our "registered" rubber stamp). I hadn't seen this before and thought it was neat. Oh, the box contained 5 new Goetz medals and a huge (430mm) cast iron art plate that belonged to, and was displayed in the Goetz home. The seller isn't quite sure if the piece is an early Goetz from 1890 when he was an apprentice or not. I see several figures (allegorical imagery) that lean towards the same images in later Goetz pieces but it may take some time to attirbute the piece as Goetz, if ever.

sounds interesting... pictures are welcome and just think of the poor folks on the East Coast that may be snowed in this weekend and your Goetz medals may be all they have to look forward to.

Yeah, I can get pics of the box too...I only went psycho on one end...probably need a pic anyway to commemorate my spending $100 for shipping!!!

$100 for shipping? My, but I can find you Chinese sellers on eBay who'd ship medals for only $30 ....
