Didn't you say that PCGS is offering you free vouchers for their failure to delays in grading? PCGS guarantees a 15 day grading time or free vouchers if they don't live up to their end of the bargain. That is spelled out well on this site. Sounds like they are living up to their promises.
BTW. They are late on about 23 coins I have submitted and I want some &$*&#* free vouchers I will be raising some hell
RVDAVIS, you would get much better results over in the Open Forum. We've got lawyers, psychologists, drunks, and lastly, people that would really help you out. Please feel free to post your concerns over there and we'll be glad to help!
Either take your business elsewhere or accept the freebie that comes when they're late.
As long as they honor their guarantee by giving the freebie, they're upholding their end of the bargain. Either that's acceptable to you or it's not. And if it's not, take your business elsewhere. It really is that simple.
<< <i>To meet those guarantees either submissions will have to be reduced or more graders hired. >>
Despite David Hall's claims, I don't think the problem is a lack of graders. I think it's organizational failure. One indication is the utterly random time frames for completion of orders. They've repeatedly claimed they use a FIFO system, but anybody who pays any attention knows that's crap. Orders that arrive at the same time in the same tier complete weeks apart; orders that arrived weeks after others are completed first.
NGC is doing at least the same volume and I'm getting less than a month or less door-to-door service. More importantly - and an indication that they have the necessary systems in place - their service is consistent. If I have orders that arrive a week apart, they get done a week apart.

Russ I gave up a year and a half ago of trying to convince folks around here of that.
Lots of fun in here. Even if they are late, they live up to their end of the bargain. They gave you free grades. I would hope that they take their time and give me free graddes all day long. I would get all my coins certified for free. Wouldn't that be great. Hell, they could even take 6 months if I got hundreds of coind for free. Zach
I have not submitted for a long time and have sent (or had sent) four since November
First 2,estimated 45 days,took over 60 days.
First one was raw coins, not un-happy with grades.
Second one was a cross over for 5 NGC coins that all went DNC which pissed me off, heres the kicker. right before the grades posted i called the CSR and was told the coins are in the "SEALING ROOM" that told me the coins crossed and i should expect new grades and holders !
i will just wait untill the market corrects itself if i need to sell my coins.
No more PCGS subs for me.
Takes the graders 6 seconds to grade a coin,10 a minute,600 an hour, lets assume an hour off and and hour on,4 hours of grading time is 2400 coins a day times 4 graders is 9600 coins a day or 192,000 per month or 2,304,000 coins per year.
You tell me you have a backlog of 384,000 coins ?
PCGS has graded 10,000,000 coins since 1986 thats 19 years or 526,310 coins per year which actually calculates to a 7 month back log ?
As has been said, you are beating a dead horse. Most everyone knows that the times aren't being kept. To protest it, people post threads about it (and get flip replies from people that have already been talking about it for months/years). To protest it, never submit again. Sell your free submissions to someone else or just toss them away, but you are not bound to submit to them. Submitting to PCGS tells me that you aren't a "newbie" into the collecting field with slabs. If that is the case, I would be VERY surprised if you didn't know they were slow and not meeting many people's expectations and times.
I have not submitted in over ten years, so no I am neither a novice nor a newbie.
However, to take out your bitterness on the support person who took your call, by telling them you wanted them to give you free submissions to their major competitor, was very childish. You win no sympathy votes there. That person is NOT the one holding up your submission (though, they probably do wish they could delay it for a few months now).
Why the personal aspersions? I did not 'take out my bitterness on the support person who took my call..' I simply stated that I would prefer to have NGC vouchers as I would not be using PCGS again.
To whine about a "guarantee" and the remedy if not met is also childish. Why don't you start a certifying/slabbing company and get it into one of the top 3 and then figure out what needs to be done. Some will meet it (NGC) and some will not (PCGS). However, I don't think you have a grasp at the volumes involved or the issues around everything.
What sacred cow did I gore by daring to express my opinion about PCGS? The volumes are PCGS issues; if they are overwhelmed by volume add staff or advise customers that dates will not be met. That simple.
You have sour grapes. You are acting childish. Protest it by never submitting to them again. Never buy another coin in a PCGS slab. And, never having anything to do with them again.
Thanks for the advice; my grapes are fresh as can be. No I am not acting childish, I asked forum members how they handled this particular situation and I have responded to posts accordingly. What a hornet's nest though eh? One simple post on a Friday evening and everyone got really excited so I guess folks have opinions on this issue.
Or, try being polite when you call them and not trying to be a d*ck on the phone. I've been customer service before. People that threatened me with a competitor or plain yelled at me seemed to fair worse than those that complained but were polite....hmmm..imagine that.
OK so you were a CSR. You got yelled at, apparently by people who were d*cks on the phone. I was coureteous, polite and expressed myself accordingly. You assume too much when you assume that because I am unhappy I expressed that unhappines inappropriatley. What does that make you?
btw....if you feel they are so screwed up about the word "guarantee" maybe you should just sue them? I am sure they hadn't had their attorneys make sure that the wording was ok, right? Good thing you aren't an attorney but 2 of your kids are....you can probably get them to do it pro bono for you, right? I am sure they see that it is an open and shut case, right?
I do not know what cranked you up but let me tell you, going after my kids will really crank me up. My kids couldn't file a civil suit if I begged them too because they are too busy doing immigration defense work for folks who can't hire representation. They are doing important work and they have never represented me nor would they. So get a grip. PCGS is a triviality to me. I do not appreciate being baited and switched by what I find this evening to be a very frequent situation. Sue PCGS over grading times? Good gracious what a ludicrous idea. I dislike unprofessional behavior and bad management and that is what I have experienced with PCGS. BTW, so have some of the folks who answered this post.
[i[You do realize there are a lot more things in life to worry about and get steamed over, right?
Yes, I do realize there are many more things to get steamed about. Insulting my kids when you known nothing about them, yeah that gets me steamed. Being treated rudely by folks who do not know me, yes that is irritating. PCGS taking much longer on many submissions than the guarantee? I do not lose a minute of sleep about it. I asked a question and got some answers; some from intelligent folks and some who act like I dropped a car battery on their sore big toe.
Sincerest Regards

Proud recipient of YOU SUCK more than once and less than 100 times.
As my protest, I sent some coins to ANACS that arrived Nov 1st. They still have them. I wrote them and was told economy is sitting at 12 weeks if not longer. I have to rethink my protest.

In my earlier post, forgot to mention that, like Mike, I've stop submitting, at least to PCGS. May start again though, definitely if I re-up at platinum. I have so many piled up that are supposed to go to PCGS, that if I was smart, I would get my lazy a$$ in gear, submit at least 5/week consistently, and when they started coming in week after week I probably wouldn't even care when I sent them...Nah

That happened to me this last year.
I asked HRH or Carol or someone and was told no.
My membership submissions were over a week late (even considering weekends, shows, lunar rainbows, etc) and you don't get free vouchers.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
