Well for the lazy the article just throws up the usual "Ebay can raise fees because it can get away with it," and then whines about Ebay's stock getting shellacked this week after missing earnings by a penny. To me, that's just gambling on the part of investors; there's no reason why Ebay should be worth 19% less over a single cent of earnings. I don't think it's as big a problem as the writer does.

However, I wonder what Ebays outlays are. Bandwidth, storage and support are probably its big three expenses, so why can't it peform better?

ebay has a limited amount of growth to do as company , it looks like its about to mature fairly soon.

it still is a cash cow, but the stock is way too hyped and any bad news at all causes panic, imagene if MSN were to get into the auction biz..the stock would fall another 20% in a week.

Plus sooner or later they are really going to take a big hit with some of those lawsuits that people throw at them.

Bandwidth, storage - both of these expences are decreasing

stock is over-value but not inflated.

i"t looks like its about to mature fairly soon" - Wow! Strongly disgree with that statement - the markets are almost endless AND
ther are not even close to mature.

they have around 100 million members already, I would guess that at least the U.S market seems pretty mature at this point.

who hasnt heard of ebay yet?

Dont get me wrong, i wouldnt mind owning some stock right now, they have a split coming in soon and that should work out well, I just dont think they will be able to match their previous or current rate of growth much longer.

it will grow and get pretty good results, but not at triple or possibly double digits anymore
