Need your suggestions and donations

Hello everyone!

I am new to this board and I found out that this board is very cool and useful. There are lots nice and knowledgable people here.

I started collecting coins (mostly Canadian coins but also some US coins) few years ago. I have another friend who is also a coin collector. One day, he told his idea to me which is to run a little coin club at our high school. I think it is a very cool thing to do, so we started to do a survey to see if there are collectors in our school. And we found out that there are about 9 people who also like to collect coins and they all interesting to join the club. Finall we asked our school library stuffs if we can have a meeting every 2 weeks in the library after school. Guess what? The library agreed. We were so happy at that time because we are going to have a little coin club. After the club was formed, we have some new people joining in. We now have total of 21 members. Most of them are just begin collecting. Therefore, I let the beginers to borrow my 2003's Charlton book.

Now I need you guys' suggestions. How can you run a good coin club?
Also I will appreciate if you can please donate some coins(I mean just low value coins) or any coin books or any thing that is relate to numismatic that you don't need anymore to our club. I just try to give some free coins or any numismatic stuffs to new members and beginers.

If you have any questions or you like to give our club a hand(donation), please pm me.

Thanks alot for reading this!

  • Terry,

You need to change your profile so that you can get PM's. Also would be nice if you would open your profile for viewing.....

As for suggestions for the club:
    1. Do a survey from the current members to find out what thier likes/areas of interest are
    2. Based on the above, you or other members of the club can check out the coins/history of the coins in the local public library
    3. Present reports, displays etc based on the results of the survey
    4. Find out if any family members of the people currently collect coins and would like to do presentations
    5. Find out if there are local coin clubs that would like to do presentations

A question back to you - where are you located? That info would help in getting you help as well...
