According to the PCGS certification verification site, "SP" means specimen - "like a proof, granular looking". What the does that mean - that it looks like a casting?

This coin was minted at the Heaton Mint whose collection was recently sold. Among this collection were early specimen strikes of beautiful copper coins , such as the one Don just won I presume, or a Tunisian kharub that I own. They're blazing red, flawless and with an edge as close to proof as possible. PCGS generally attributes them as SP as there were no specific dies for proofs of these.
Wonderful coin, the kind I can't resist either. LMK if you ever get tired of it.

All the time. That is what defines my collecting habit.
Besides, the auction description says it all:
<< <i>PCGS SP65RD. Interesting. >>
Looks pretty cool to me.
