I am in the market for a 33 goudey Gehrig. As i was looking for a graded example i came across this. Seller says $ back if not authentic. It looks pretty nice exept for the whitness of the back. Trimmed ????????? Do you guy's have any thoughts ?

I'm certainly not an expert in the area of spotting trimmed cards, so I'll bow to those who are, but I do think the card looks smaller then it should. Also, I'm always leary when a seller states that a card is "authentic". It's almost like saying, yeah it's trimmed, but at least it's real. Just my dos centavos.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • he has some graded cards for auction right now. why wouldn't he have gotten the Gehrig graded? probably because he actually did and it was rejected, so he popped it out of the case and selling it as raw.
  • A gehrig 33 goudey is one of those cards you want to buy graded just because of the amount of fakes and reprints out there. Just based on the scan, this card could grade a 4. Why didnt he grade it?

    Check out this auction

    Gehrig

Same seller. Sold a gehrig 33...SGC 50. Hmmm.....

    He does state

<< <i>In case if you where wondering I have 8 gehrigs that I am selling one at a time so this is not a repost >>

This still begs the question...why grade some and not others?

I will leave the deeper analyzing to 33 goudey experts.
