Need Book Rec: Baseball History

Anyone got a recommendation for a good baseball history book? Something that has anecdotes about the game, players, etc?

Not a book, but I have the DVD set of the Ken Burns documentary titled "Baseball". It is 25 hours on 10 DVD's. I have watched it three times in the last year. You can find a set on Ebay. It is WELL WORTH IT!

As far as books go, I believe there is a book that parallells the documentary.

"Total Baseball" edited by John Thorn and Pete Palmer is one of my favorite resources. You can't have too many baseball history books. The Ken Burns book is a very good one as well.

"The Sports Encyclopedia of Baseball" has a full review of every season played since 1901.

"The Baseball Encyclopedia" and "The Official Encyclopedia of Baseball" are two more excellent sources. Actually, you can't go wrong with any baseball book that has the word "encyclopedia" in it.
