After over 20 years of searching, trekking high and low, asking the same damn question over and over of every card dealer on the face of the earth, getting innumerous blank stares - I finally got it. Won it on my birthday (Jan. 4), came through the door yesterday, I met with Anthony today to split up the set and here is the one I keep, the rest are going on ebay:

By the way MorrellMan,
I have a picture of you hanging in my card room :
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"

Wolfbear - Wasn't Quicksilver Messenger Service fronted by David Friberg, later of Jefferson Starship?
SW
Machodoc -
David Freiberg played bass and sang for Quicksilver Messenger Service during their late 1960's glory years.
He achieved commercial success as a member of the not-so-hip Jefferson Starship of the 1970's.
Sorry about the brief thread hijack ... now, back to Koufax
The words of Vin Scully I heard out of my little radio back on a special day are still etched in my little brain :
"Swung on and missed ... a perfect game !"
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"

Sorry, the correct answer would be Jefferson Airplane. The Starship name flip didn't come until many years later.
Thanks for playing though, and I'll go sort through all of your other posts ..... to check for more errors.
Continue to enjoy your day!
Mike
I've been reading your threads for some time, glad you finally got it. Let us know when you get it graded.

Steve - in case you're not kidding, it is a '59 Morrell Koufax. Otherwise LMAO!
Wolfie - too cool. Must be scary having me watching over your shoulder. (PM sent)
Shouldabeena10 - meaning no disrespect; Freiberg actually was in the original lineup of the Starship (check the Dragon Fly album).

shouldabeena10 - please stop hijacking this thread.
David Freiberg joined Jefferson Airplane in August of 1972.
On March 19,1974, Jefferson Airplane officially became Jefferson Starship,
and David stayed on with them thru May of 1985
So, I'd have to say he was much more of a ship than a plane.
No how about that Koufax pic !

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
<< <i>was that a photo or a clay rendering of Mr. Koufax? A bad scan or a little too much makeup? >>
I think it was a little too much sun.

Wolfbear; I love the Fillmore posters. Here's a post of a couple of posters on my office wall:

MorrellMan - very cool ...
here's a couple of scans of some of the handbills I collected back in the 1960's :

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Griffins - the 3rd one down was done by Rick Griffin.
You like some of Rick Griffins art work. Hence : your id

I have a small but cherished collection of handbills; this is one of my favorites:
I really ought to frame them like yours - you didn't use a matte?

Nope, totally unrelated. Griffin is my son's name, never thought about the connection to Rick Griffin until years later.
One of my surfboards in the 70's had Rick Griffin style graphics airbrushed, wish I still had that one- between the artwork and the manufacturer (Zephyr) it would be deep into 4 figures now.

MorrellMan - that Rick Griffin is classic.
Now I'm thinkin' I need one like it. What the heck does it say ?
As for using matte, he wasn't available, so Steve framed them.
Actually, I had them framed so long ago that maybe matte hadn't been invented yet ...
Griffins - It's never too late for you to get started on that vintage surf board collection ...

<< <i>Mark - congrats. Was that your personal "Holy Grail"?? If so, what's next?. No way you can relax. Regards. >>
Harry, thanks for re-tracking this hijacked thread (which I helped hijack!).
Yes, it certainly was my "Holy Grail". I have other wants, but this was the most elusive.
I guess the card that has moved to the top spot of my elusive list would be....probably the '63 Pepsi Cola Bateman card. Problem with that one is, I could have a reasonable expectation to never see one.
