1977 Topps Unpublished Proof

Here's a type of card that always gets a lot of attention at the toppsvault - an unpublished proof
of Steve Stone.

From Topps:

<< <i>1977 Topps Baseball Unpublished Proof Card! Steve Stone. Direct from the legendary Topps Vault comes this rather unusual proof card. The card issued in wax packs features a photo of this player in a White Sox uniform, not the Cubs uniform depicted in this card photo. Blank-backed proof measures the standard 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" and is in excellent condition. >>

With 4 days to go, it is already at 200 bucks! I recollect a rare card with Reggie in a different uni went for some very righteous coin. And BTW, when they say "excellent" condition, that can mean mint or less from my personal experience.

I see Merkel is bellied up to the table. Expect some big coinage thrown at this one.

    BOTR

ps) Is Merkel a heavy hitter on the topps vault stuff? Seems to be.

Yes - he is a heavy hitter, and has one of the more noted collection throughout the baseball hobby. He has the hobby's most extensive collection, I believe, of proofs, rare variations, etc. going back 100+ years. It's fun and all to drop some coin on an unissued 1977 Topps proof card - but it is a whole different animal to be dropping major coin on proof cards of HOF'ers from the T-206 set, for example. One and the same guy, nonetheless
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

The estimate on the Reggie card is 5 to 20. I have never seen the Steve Stone proof. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Thiek Nnamreblo is very well known in his native homeland. 'Teke' is extremely versed in the English language and has been noted as such. Good luck to him!

    <<proofs......going back a 100+ years...>> THAT is pretty strong stuff he's drinking.

He has bought some similar unissued proofs (or different pictures, or whatever) from Toppsvault. I know that he got some 1968 Topps versions for a few hundred dollars last Fall
