Does this card meet centering for PSA 10 ?

Randy Johnson the auction is for the Billy Ripken but the 1990 Score Rising Stars Randy Johnson is also pictures and just looks pretty off center to me for a 10, the Ripken looks a bit off center also but not as bad as the Randy. Maybe it's within the guidelines but I sure wouldn't buy that as a 10

  • I often forgive a little centering for outstanding stock and image quality. This centering looks to be a bit generous, however. The chip on the left border along with the centering should have landed this copy in the 9 range. The best thing to do in a situation like this would be to buy the card rather than the holder...of course this expression has always cracked me up a little. If we all did that, PSA wouldn't be in business.

great logic phil but if the other grading company(SGC) had any type of business model or maybe hired someone with a build it and they will come attitude we would all be on the sgc message board!they are happy with the lovable loser label!

I think the card is fine. PSA specifically states that PSA 10s can exhibit 60-40 centering l/r. That looks good to me and obviously, it looked good to the trained professionals at PSA. Other than the centering, the card is flawless and falls well within the guidelines of GEM MINT 10.

  • I measured 41/59 on the centering. So within the standards for a ten. The design of the card can really effect how off center the card looks. Compare a 52 topps card and a 1954 Wilson Franks card both with 60/40 center. The Topps card will appear more off center because it has larger borders, because difference in the size of the borders is more noticeable.

  • PSA centering standards allow for 65/35 centering (60/40 plus 5% leeway) on Gem Mint 10 cards if the card has good eye appeal. I have seen a few PSA 10s with 65/35 centering and they do not look good in a 10 holder. how can a card be Gem Mint and not have 50/50 centering? would be far fewer 10s, but it seems to me that is the reality of baseball cards - very, very very, few are perfect.

  • the Johnson looks a little off.

How about This One for a 10?

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.

...please. It's OK to like the card, but the fanny-smoochin' is a little over the top.
