Pretty funny! I think Brien will be back next year. Herman Edwards did not know that visiting kickers hit only 44% of field goals from 40+ yards. So is it Edwards,Hackett, or Brien's fault? I will go with Hackett, But Herm should know this before the game.
It's so easy to pile on the kickers, but in reality, that entire debacle rests firmly on the shoulders of Herm Edwards...the offense was so conservative, and there was little chance any kicker was going to make that kick from that range in those conditions.

And it's not like Brien has a long pedigree of making clutch kicks.
Marty cost the Chargers the game in OT because he didn't force the offense to move in close enough for the kicker. A week later and Edwards does the same thing. Sheer genius Lloyd.
Well . . . I was fortunate to be at that game. And as Brien lined up for the first kick and we were all hooping and waving our terrible towels, one fan hollered, nobody has made a 47-yarder yet in this stadium in this end after November (now I don't know if that was a true fact, but I did learn earlier this week that a 50-yarder has never been made in that end.)
anyway, what shocked us all (to our satisfaction) was the second field goal attempt when (why in the world) did the Jets take a kneel with six seconds on the clock, losing three yards. It was like the ultimate dumb call of the century.
Anyway, the Jets fans shouldn't cry. The Steelers gave up a TD on a punt return, and aTD on a pass interception. The offense scored only three points.
This weekend's prediction: Steelers 24, Patriots 17 (Steelers have it in the trenches, wide receivers, running backs, linebackers). See you there!!!

Besides I am from Texas and a Cowgirls fan, it is against the law down here to like the Steelers or the Eagles.
