Oh boy! I may have found my newest darkside addiction. I truely know nothing about them other than the design is gorgeous! I'm talking about Cuban 1 Peso coins, the ones with the star on one side and the shield on the other. Would really appreciate any and all info (including places I could get them other than eBay) about these coins that you all are willing to spare.

These are cool and huge. I have one from 1933 and it's my largest silver coin.

I'd suggest that you focus on XF specimens, it's going to cost you a lot less

Anyone have more info such as years minted, different mints, mintages, fineness, etc.....?

Well then you have a problem for which there is a semi-cure
I was up on the Bay of E at o'dark thirty this morning and there were three full sets of Cuban Silver up there including one group of about 20 or so peices with those large 50cent peices. I think they were all closing in the next 24 hours or so.

You don't want to collect those ugly coins. Stay away from them -- they're just trouble. Let me handle them instead.

Yep, those big stars are neat; however, the Cubans I like most are the ABC Pesos. TO me, it is an incredible design in so many ways.

I think a coin with the reverse of the star peso (big shield) and the obverse of the ABC would be awesome
