1776-1976 Silver Kennedy

40% Kennedies were only minted with the S mm so why in the world would someone silver plate one of these coins? I've seen gold, I've seen bronze anodizing, and I've even hear of copper but why silver?

Has anybody ever run across this before or is my naivety showing through? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
