Franklin Collectors...how many Franklins do you currently own?

I was wondering how many hard core Franklin Collectors reside here.
If we buy multiples of dates because they are pretty.
What's the most you've had at one time.

I have about 80 slabbed and 25 raw franklins right now. 10 (65/66 quality) of the raw are slated to go into PCGS, the other 15, All 64/65 quality, are in Wayte Raymond pages for a chance to acquire some pretty toning.
Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.

I own about 40 coins with ol' Ben on the obverse.

I have a complete set of the MS kind waiting at NGC now to be slabbed.

I am trying for FBL on all but the 53-S. We will see.

  • I have a completed circ collection in nice shape - unsure of grade - bought at coin shop about 5 years ago. Besides that, only a few others, but would like to collect more of them. No slabbed ones yet. I'd like to find a couple of nicely/pretty toned 52P or D in about a 63/64 range for a good price. hint hint.

I have about 40 for my two MS Registry sets (FBL bonus and no FBL bonus sets).

    No FBL bonus

And for anyone that saw my cases at FUN, I have a few in addition to those in my setsimage

I do not really know the exact number. I have not counted, though some day I should. I would guess between 100-200. Only one slabbed (1956 Type 1 Proof 68 in an old PCGS holder, the coin is CAM if not DCAM but it was holdered before PCGS gave out the CAM/DCAM designations); many circulated coins I pulled out of circulation in the 1960's when I was a wee lad; a complete MS set in a Capital Holder I picked up in over 6 years ago; many CAM and DCAM proofs I have acquired/cherry picked over the past 6+ years; some mint set coins (1956, 1959 and 1960) I have picked up over the years and some miscellaneous MS singles I have picked up here and there.

I did not intentionally set out to acquire so many. They just started to accumulate. Some I like, some I have sentimental attachment to (those I acquired as a kid) and some I love (the CAM/DCAM coins and some of the toned and brilliant MS examples).

Some Frankies can be ugly and and some can be drop dead gorgeous.

A raw basically white set (whitman classic) that averages MS64 and a few duplicate dates in higher grades.
Also the proofs back to '53 and a handful of slabbed gems and toners, a couple varieties such as the bugs.

    maybe 80 coins total?

I have a BU set (in an album) and a circulated set (VF - XF) in another album. Then, of course, I have probably most of another set and miscellaneous Franklins which I pick up every now and then when I like what I see.

Edited to say: Franklins were my first favorites!!!!

My fav. series.............. I have an Unc set of both raw and slabbed. (about 10 of them slabbed). a circ-unc set and I am trying to finish a proof set, 1950-1953 still to go! I probably own 100 all together.
  • IrishMikeIrishMike Posts: 7,737 ✭✭✭
I still own two rolls of 48 and 48 D that I put away in the 60's. I've sold all but a few of my slabbed ones. I still pick up one or two at coin shows in flips if they have the color I am looking for. I plan to put them in a platic holder and hang them in the den. My guess is that I have about 30 like this. To me they are still bargains at the local shows.

Too many to count, I have a Proof Cameo set from 1955 and up....always looking for the early 50's examples, but it's going to run me into some serious cash...

this is 1 series where circs do not have much appeal, which is why i only have the 1 set. now, like with mercs or washingtons, i have multiple sets, unc, & circ.
