Question for Graysiders

My Krause shows this series starting in 1936. Can anyone tell me anything about this 1935?

  • What do you want to know?

The 1935 silver dollars is the first standard issue silver dollars for Canada. The 1935 obverse has a George V portrait unique to Canadian coins, which was changed in 1936 to the George V portrait found on other denominations. A new obverse was used from 1937 and beyond, due to the transition from George V to George VI.

Both 1935 and 1936 coins are 80% silver and 20% copper. Mintage for 1935 was 428707; for 1936 was 306100.
