A small sampling of my recent submission just in...

I sent in a small sampling of golf cards along with some other stuff for a friend on the recent 5 days $12 special Here are the golf card results. I will honestly say the 1932 Bobby Jones I thought would come back a 7 and maybe even an 8. I only paid $500 and the SMR on it is still $1000 in psa 5. This card is WAYYYYYY tougher to find than a Sports Kings or US Carmel and it is the nicest looking "5" you will ever see.

I was pleased to get a Psa 7 on the one 1901 card of James Braid, A nice addition to my World Golf Hall of Fame registry and plus it is a PSA 7 of a 104 year old card!!!!

The Tom Morris recolored is a bit disappointing, but I did not pay much for it and it still looks great in my collection.

Here are the numbers/

1932 ABDULLA & CO. 200 BOBBY JONES SPORT RECORDS PSA 5
1901 OGDENS LTD. 479 J. BRAID GUINEA GOLD-C BASE PSA 7
1901 OGDEN'S LTD. 479 J. BRAID GUINEA GOLD-H BASE PSA 3
1901 OGDEN'S LTD. TOM MORRIS GUINEA GOLD GOLF-I BASE Not Holdered, Re-Colored
1928 WA&AC CHURCHMAN 7 BOBBY JONES MEN OF MOMENT-SER. OF 12 PSA 6

The 1928 Jones Large size was also a great find. One was recently on sale on ebay for I believe $499 or $599. I paid $300 for an entire set of 12 Large Cards, sold off the 10 non golfers (too cheaply I might add) and still have the two cards I really wanted. The SMR on the Jones is
$500 but I think it would go for more than that. There have been 2 7's graded and only 2 6's as well. Again a really tough card.

I will get scans up on these when I get them back, hopefully via registered mail tomorrow.

Happy Collecting!

  • Thanks for sharing Dave! I like sending in the real vintage too. It sounded like you were fairly happy with the scarce ones.

I also had a modern submission of about 50 cards that I will post details of with you all. I sent in an entire set of Ritchie and Company golf cards. They are tobacco sized caricatures produced in 1992. I think they are neat cards. I will be sure to get scans up when I receive the rest.

Attached are the scans of my cards from my recent submission. If someone can get them to just load without clicking the link I would appreciate it greatly. Curious as to the boards opinions of the psa 5. Before you all pile on, Trust me there are no surfact wrinkles etc. I cannot at all figure out why this is not graded higher.....oh well..

    Thanks for looking!

  • I've been reading the forum for the past couple of months and like what I've read. Knowledgable and friendly members, how can I lose?

Dave, I've only been collecting vintage golf cards for the better part of a year but I can tell quality when I see it. Thanks for sharing.

  • he stole my icon, lol...

In case you don't know, that is an unopened pack of 1960 Leaf baseball. well... it was unopened until i came home drunk one night and though i should open it. Oddly enough it was a series 2 pack, and 1 of the cards in it was from series 1 (and to top it off, it was GAI graded unopened). 3 of the cards that came from that pack graded PSA 9 image

Also, I still have the 2 marbles that came inside the pack.
  • Sorry about that JonB. I tried to use the card you see, a 1900 Copes, very rare, but was informed I could not add my own until the middle of next month. Hope you don't mind. Yours is one of the best listed. I will be more than happy to remove it if you want me too. Hope I didn't step on any toes.

  • Wow! That 1932 Jones is sweet looking. It sure looks better than the grade you got. I have never seen any old golf cards at any of the local shows but I keep looking. Congrats.

Thanks for posting the pics !

Never realized that the shafts were so short back in 1928.
Bobby Jones must have really had to hunch over to hit the ball with that club ... image

I don't really care, I was just giving the new guy a hard time image
  • Thanks for the warm welcome JohnB and for sharing the story about the unopened, eh, well opened pack of fleer 1960s. I've bought several unopened items but just can't seem to keep them unopened very long...............I just have to work on my self-control.

Dave, thanks for the phone call and scan. That Abdulla sure is sweet. I will get back in touch with you concerning extra 1927 Churchmans and the 1931s when I get a chance to have them graded. Love your passion for these wonderful cards.
