"A nice '53 Topps Satch Paige! I think I'll send it to PRO!"

What are the odds that this 1953 Topps Satch Paige is not trimmed or otherwise doctored? If it was legit, nobody in their right mind would send it to PRO. Even PSA 3 with a crease would be worth more than PRO 7, and the seller knows that. He also has a '53 Topps Yogi Berra PRO 7.5 that is pretty obviously trimmed.
Hidden seller's feedback + hidden buyers (or shillers) + PRO graded = Very ugly, very risky auctions. I feel bad for Satch and Yogi.

Trimming is fairly easy to detect on the 53s, as the good ones are either way OC or there's PLENTY of border on the top, left, and right. And a 53 with no chipping on the red/black panel at the bottom is about 100% likely to either be in a PSA holder or still raw.

Anyone want to bet what holder they end up in? Most of those wouldn't sell for a profit in a gem elite/pro holder, and I know he's sold some BGS cards in the past. Hmmm......
On the other hand, maybe it's not such a bad thing he's putting so many of his eggs in the Barry basket.
I remember now that I won an auction from Moser under the ID www.neverpayfullprice.com or something to that effect. A search of the forums also shows that he operates under 'kardz-r-us.'
That means that in one way or another, the folllowing IDs are linked:
syzygy3.14
www.neverpayfullprice.com
kardz-r-us
jodi-mo
t2_inc
slabbed
It's all pretty interesting. This is a sophisticated operation.
There was a thread about him selling BGS graded cards early last year. I wonder if he started selling his modern cards under a different account to protect Beckett's reputation?
Perhaps that is true. I do recall, though, reading that Moser had an in with t2inc despite the differing locations. I will try and see if I can dig this info back up (don't remember where it came from but I imagine it had to be a sports board).

I of course agree with that. All Pro Graded cards are not worth anything to me - I will simply never buy one. I'd rather buy a raw card. At least with a raw card it might not be trimmed whereby with a Pro Graded card it is almost definitely trimmed.
Payment to ellyn2004 goes to Ellen Kemp. I've long since thrown away or deleted anything with the address on it.

What is his story?
Moser is a reputed card doctor who would regularly run auctions for PRO cards under his ID jodi-mo. If one were to keep track of syzgy3.14's buying habits and the cards offered for sale by jodi-mo, there would be a high occurence of the same cards. You can check the forums for pictures of before and after shots of cards bought by syzgy3.14 as PSA 6 and sold by jodi-mo as PSA 8 or PRO 9. There is a great history of discussion found in the archives on this forum. Some sellers have listed all variations of Moser's ID on their blocked bidder lists out of principle. Moser will pay premiums for nice specimens. Within the last week he paid over $330 for a '69 Jackson RC in PSA 7 (SMR $235) and $2500 for a '51 Bowman Mays PSA 6 (SMR $1600).
As for the link between syzgy3.14 and ellyn2004, that is a link I had not heard of. It is hard to fathom the magnitude of this operation as all of these IDs combined have feedback totalling into the several thousands.
I would never buy from him, but I don't personally have the opposition to selling to him that some other members of the board do. I look at it this way - any unknown buyer might be a card doctor (and even some of the known ones). Singling out one to block hurts me more than it hurts him.

I agree with your last statement. We have seen that he will pay premiums so I would rather take my chances and have a card sell to him for a multiple of SMR. It's his risk to turn a profit.

Shame that. That Mays rookie was extremely nice.
