  • My best find was last year. A solid roll of walkers and franklins. When I asked for half dollars, the teller said, "are you sure you want them, they are kinda old?" I said, trying to hold back my laughter," Sure, I guess it would be ok".

Just pulling your leg Dave I am glad we have a local show to go to. Although I wish we had more shows going like they have on the West coast. I did get to go to the NYC International show on Saturday...was awesome.
Sadly the next major NYC show isn't until June.

  • What I do notice is that the banks rarely carry half dollar rolls. they say that they had to order them and only have them if customers bring them in. Has that been the experience of others?

Also, I went to the NY Invitational Show on Saturday. Got a lovely 12-d lincoln that was for au money but I think would be at least a ms60. Bad thing was a I got a $115 parking ticket for parking in a commercial area on a weekend and the signs were poorly stating this. Everyone on that street got a ticket.

  • Nice finds! Last time I asked to buy $500 worth of half-dollar rolls at my bank, a rather snippy young teller said, "We don't have any! Is there anything else I can help you with?" ..........I bit my tounge.....

The correct response to that is, "Yes. A bank that can supply my needs."

I said precisely that once. It took me directly into the bank manager's office where I explained that I desired to buy halves, round dollars, and two-dollar bills on a regular basis. She assured me that the bank could satisfy my desires and that I need not look elsewhere. That was a couple of years ago. I've had no problems since. And I've found a few interesting items as a result--mostly silver-clad halves and star twos, but also a Franklin, some impared proofs, 2002 and 2003 Sacs.image

  • Construct - Way to go! I just walked out at the time 'cause it wasn't that important to me. I still bank there so maybe I should use your approach and see what happens. I do have a nice teller who puts aside anything "odd" for me. Perhaps I shall flex my "financial muscle" further!
