Are there any circulated coins that you get in change worth high money?

Like the message title. Which coins that you may get in change have any value in circulated condition? What do you look for?

    Don't know of much.
    You might run into something.
    Probably not high money.

  • There are probably a few 1995 ddo's around, since there were so many made and released.

How much did the slab cost you? How many did you slab before 'making' that one? Are you in the black overall?

Not being a wiseguy, just curious.

  • Actually have picked up some statehood quarters in the 65 and 66 range, have several off to ANACS. Plenty of stuff out there, you just have to look. Overall I find the Roosie Dimes to be the easiest to pick out of circulation in a decent ms and I always check the pennies I got a 95 ddo in change from Walmart last year and I haven't sent it off yet.

  • I have found some early wheats 1913..1923 and some others in my safe. I have found some statehood quarters and dimes that look high grade but I don't know that much on grading yet.

There are no regular issue circulated coins made for circulation in the last couple
of generations ( image ) that are worth a large premium except the '83-P quarter can
go for as high as $20 in nice AU. There are many scarcer coins which might be
worth a premium in the future in nice circulated grades.

There are numerous special issues and varieties which have been found in circu-
lation over the last few decades which are worth big money. These include sever-
al coins worth $100,000 or nearly. Coins like the sac mules and the no-S Ike were
found in circulation. There have also been a 40% Denver Ikes, numerous off-metal
'64, '65, and '71 issues. There are also numerous errors which can reach valuations
of a few hundred dollars or more. 1982-NMM dimes and rotated reverse states issues
    can be found.

Keep you eye out for gems and if you see one try to track it down to its origin as there
    will be more.

I found a 1967 quarter in change that I sold raw for $17. Not bad for a quarter? Oh yea, it was a doubled die reverse. image
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!
  • how bout that 1960s cent in G4 that sold for $118 on ebay? the thread on this story is around here somewhere
  • This didn't happen to me (darn!) but I remember reading in CW about a year or so ago about the guy who got a 1969-S DDO Lincoln in change. Graded AU something if I remember correctly.
