Another Bank Score!!

I went to the bank on Saturday and picked up 30 rolls of half dollars. The results were atypical. Here are the results:

12 Kennedy 40% silver
1 Kennedy 90%
1 Kennedy 1969-S Proof
1 Kennedy 1987-P
1 Kennedy 1987-D

I wasn't too surprised to see the silver halves or even the proof. What blows me away is the 1987's. These were only released in mint sets. What are these two coins doing in circulated rolls? I guess I will try this again when I get the 30 rolls spent around town or given out as change at my pharmacy. I still have people tell me that they have never seen a Kennedy Half.

great finds, i'm thinking about picking up some rolls myself
  • Finding the '87's is unusual, but not unheard of. I've found '87's, a '70D, a '70S and 1981 SBA's. They could have been taken from a collection and spent. It also could be from collectors breaking up mint and proof sets, spending the ones that don't make the highest grades. image
