A perfect example of a coin that can "fall through the cracks" in a super large auction. I suspect I would have little problem placing the coin at around $50,000 tomorrow. Wondercoin

  • I would agree, It is a good specimen. Wish I owned it.

  • At a hammer price of $36,800 plus juice, I don't think it fell through the cracks! Of course, if wondercoin had a client willing to go $50,000 - then maybe it did!

    I'd like it!

Mike: The hammer was just $32,000.

  • Sorry wc - I see - the $36,800 was with the 15% juice. Do you think this was a reasonable price for this particular example?

Mike: IMHO, I think the winning bidder scored a home run on that purchase.

I didn't think a coin like this would fall through the cracks...I didn't even think to keep an eye on it, assuming the price would be well in excess of the eventual hammer. A steal for the winning bidder IMO.

  • It was a good deal for the purchaser. I bid on it, but didnt want it. Coin is nice though. I know the current owner, and he will find a home for it.
