Why So Much For This $5 Gold???

I would expect this to go for around $150. Why over $300???

My guess would be that bidders actually think they are buying from the state of Texas and that they have a shot at getting a gem coin for cheap. But anyone with smarts and/or knows how to grade Unc. gold should be able to get two of these for this price and still be able to take the wife out for a nice steak dinner. mike image

Because a couple n00bs got into a pissing match over it. Why don't these guys ever show up at my auctions?

These state auctions always go for ridiculous $$$.

That's because there is an extensive amount of shill bidding occurring.

LOL, I agree when i watch several ebay auction, I notice that the more bidders you have, the higher it goes. If you start high, you eliminate the early bidding and they get bored. For some it is the thrill of the kill not the coin. Some twisted people indeed!!
