which would you rather have?

in general what's more valuable/desireable? an authenticated signed check of a hof'er, or one of those cut auto cards they're putting in packs? i was looking for a couple of sigs and it seems like the dead hofer cut cards sell for far more than authenticated checks.

what about an authenticated 3x5? i bought a gai bronko nagurski 3x5 for $70...but you can't touch a cut card for under $250 ....personally i can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want the whole check as opposed to the cut card(which is typically a cut check anyway). am i off base?

Great question. I would guess this would divide along lines of personal preference. I recently picked up a check of William Harridge and Zack Wheat and would hate to them chopped up for a baseball card. The value of the card may just plummet over time anyway. We had this discussion a while back having to do with Daniel Webster - someone is destroying a document - a piece of history for the purpose of pasting it onto a card - is this OK? Some would say yes and others would be exasperated.

I would rather have the whole check. Card values go the other way, which is unfortunate, since it will drive up the price for the checks (more will be sold for cutting).
