The 65 set has 38 Player and Manager cards in it. Rookies (4)

How about yours?

The 61 set I think has the most as it has All Star and MVP subsets that should be considered.

    I don't know the answer to your question, but for ROOKIES it's 1957 Topps with five: The two Robbies, Drysdale, Maz and Bunning.

    According to a quick check of SMR, '69 Topps, '70 Topps, and '71 Topps each have 41.

    In another thread I see that the 61 set has 60 HOF's if you count All Stars, MVP and the subset "Thrills" I would count these 3 subsets as they have only the player or manager on them. However if you count only the player/ manager card then the 69, 70. and 71's may very well hold the title.

    a related question. How many HOF's are in the set that you collect?

    In the set I collect, 1940 Play Ball, there are 52 1/2 HOFer's. The 1/2 goes to Shoeless Joe Jackson.image



    Edited to add: The set is only 240 cards, so that's almost 22% HOFer's.

    1938 Goudey: 18 HOFers, out of 48 cards. Or 9 out of 24, depending on how you look at it.

    1953 Topps: 21 out of 274, plus Bob Hoffman, who comes up when you do a search for "HOF".

    1961 Topps: It was me who pointed out the 60 HOFers in the other thread, and I'll count 'em all, since I have to pay for 'em all if I want to call my set complete. image

    The 1958 Bell Brand collection has 5 1/2 HOF'ers out of 10 cards. The 1/2 goes to Gil Hodges. That's a high % for one small set.

    1975 Topps has 3 HOF RCs (Brett, Yount, Carter) with Rice maybe joining them someday. Aside from them, I think it has 25 HOF player cards, not including the MVP subset and such. More if you include some of the team cards that have a little inset photo of some HOF managers (Alston, for instance).

    18 of the 72 cards (25%) in the 1965 Topps Embossed set are HOF'ers.

    36 in the 1971 topps baseball set are HoFers.

    By my count, the '68 set has:

    38 regular cards of HOFers
    11 Allstar cards of HOFers
    9 leader cards which feature one or more HOFers
    4 World Series cards which feature a HOFer
    3 checklists which feature a HOFer
    3 combination cards which feature HOFers (Superstars, Managers Dream, Bird Belters)
