Don't think Heritage did too well on this one

Heritage put up about 500 - 750 large cents on ebay and I don't think they sold a dozen of them. Wonder if they have some sort of deal with ebay on the reserve fees? If not they spent a lot of money for almost no return heritage auctions

    Nice try.
Go to Heritage Auction Archives and find out.

Maybe the title of the post should have been "Large cents don't seem to be selling very well". I'm not sure what you meant by "nice try", but I was only trying to point out that Heritage put up a large volume of very nice large cents and almost none of them sold. I was interested because I am looking to buy some for my collection and was trying to gage what I should bid.

Besides HNAI, you can add a host of major retailers that sell very little on ebay regardless of the hype. I'm surprised these guys continue to beat their heads against the wall. Most of them don't do well on their coins. These guys consistently put up groups of 50 or more coins and clog up the ebay pages on stuff that has strong reserves.

The eBay site shows only the bids made through eBay. The coins all sold at the auction in Fort Lauderdale. Usually, the hammer price shows up with a bid history but didn't (maybe just not yet) here. Since the "juice" is 20% on eBay and only 15% at Heritage, eBay attracts far fewer bidders. It does give an internet bidder a chance to bid "live". If you want to see what these coins sold for, as previously pointed out, sign in to Heritage's Auction Archives. I have no idea what it costs Heritage to list these Live Auction Events -- anyone??? It must give them some good exposure to people doing searches. Bruce.
Folks, hold off on the kudos for my red "X" icon -- I have one ready to upload as soon as the button appears

  • Yes those prices CAN'T be the final hammer price. If they are I think I'll shoot myself. For example Lot 3302 Now this is one of the most common NC varieties but there are still less than 45 pieces known and this is the fourth finest known specimen. There is no way, even in an NCS slab as corroded, this coin would sell for only $36. This piece lists at $3000, and I do mean THIS piece.

(If it is true, the reason I wold shoot myself is because I was without power or access to the internet this week so I couldn't bid on them even if I wanted to.)

Nope, you go to the Heritage website and look at the lot and it shows a closing bid of $2,185
