What card has most # of PSA 10s ?

I know I saw the 1986TT Bonds is over 2400 PSA 10s and there's over 1100 1989TT Barry Sanders and over 1000 1989UD Griffeys

I only saw those from looking around on the registered sets, is there any card out there with more PSA 10s than the 1986TT Bonds? or anything even close to it?

I would say probably no, that is one of the most graded cards every month, according to beckett. Maybe try his 86 fleer traded. many of those too

Here is almost a guaranteed fact. Barry Bonds cards will tank, and I mean tank, like a rock when he retires. His RC's have almost everything working against them. Here's the downfalls of them:

    - They were produced in massive quantity
    - He's a jerk
    - There really isn't 1 distinct RC (like McGwire's)
    - He's a jerk
    - He's a roid junkie
    - He's a jerk
    - The only people buying his cards now are people trying to make money on them when he breaks Aaron's record, he has no fan base
    - He's a jerk

McGwire RC tanked and he has a HUGE fan base, imagine what Bonds cards will do. If you care about your money, dump them now.

Kind of off topic, but I figured I would add my 2 cents.

I agree with you Steve, but I might wait until he breaks the record - and then dump them.

Further proof that mid- to late-1980s sets will NOT be the next big thing in the hobby?

Since wlf3 is far from the only Bonds stockpiler, or even the largest, it's comforting to know that there are enough '86 and '87 Bonds rookies out there for every man, woman, child and dog in America to own a dozen mint examples -- and that each one of those Bonds rookies will remain mint in their slabs and toploaders until we have an Intergalactic Series, and the Cubs still haven't won.

Where's my ratty ol' 1953 Jackie Robinson? I need comfort.

did you get 40 10s from one case or pick best out of several cases?
  • wabbittwax. You also forgot to mention another reason why Bonds' cards will tank.

    He's a jerk

Damn - how many PSA 10 Bonds rookie cards are there out there, and who is going to actually want them all? I was so happy when one of the few I had from back then pulled a 10, but now I feel like I have a dime a dozen card.

  • Actually I've dealt with Barry Bonds on numerous occasions when I would try to get Giants autographs about 5 to 7 years ago. From what I remember most of the Giants players were all right. If they didn't want to sign they just simply said to everyone not tonight. They at least acknowledged that everyone was there. Autographs are not mandatory, and if someone doesn't want to sign, they don't want to sign. Too bad for us The guys who said no didn't make anyone happy, but we understood. When Lord Barry passed through, every singly time he did not even look at anyone. Every single time. By every single time I mean I went for the Giants roughly 11 times. I call him a jerk from my experience with him. I'm not a bigot like you murcerfan. I don't make assumptions about people. I make conclusions about them, from what evidence I have seen either directly with me, or what I have seen them do to others. You on the other hand are not only bigoted with your "gay looking" comment, but you are very immature with your comment here trying to call me bigoted because I think Barry Bonds is a jerk. We have enough problems with idiot bigots in this country trying to force peole to live their way or try to kill them. We don't need idiocy like that in a message board.
  • I lived in Pittsburgh when he was there. He was a jerk back then. They will tank as he shows his true character.
  • I guess you can say that if Barry Bonds were a store, he would have gone out of business years ago.

I don't know if it's the record holder, but 2001 UD Golf #1 Tiger Woods has 3524 Gem Mint specimens so far, with about 100,000 unopened cases sitting around out there. #3 Sergio Garcia has 2797 10s.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay

    and those tanked too.
  • I think this one has the most - 2001 VICTORY #564 - ICHIRO SUZUKI has 5064 PSA 9's and 3582 PSA 10's
  • Bonds cards will tank. But they won't tank because people will all of a sudden realize he's a jerk. How many people already think or know he's a jerk? Probably anyone who follows baseball on a regularly basis...and even those that only watch it once in a while. People know he's a jerk now, and they will know later...its not like it will be news all of a sudden.

  • I don't understand why people think that ANY newer card (save the top 0.5% that are 1:1, triple sigs or whatever) are going to be worth big money down the road. I want to scream at the sheer overproduction of everything new. EVERY card show has 80-90% off tables full of new stuff. $1 jersey swatch tables stacked with cards and no one even stopping to look at anything. New stuff is almost like selling tickets to sporting events. After its out for a few months, you can't get rid of it because new collectors have the attention span of a toddler swilling down starbucks after hitting the crack pipe. Ever since the boom in the mid 80's when everyone realized "baseball cards are worth alot of money" virtually nothing new has held its value since. Again, when "everyone" realizes their bonds PSA 10 is one of 200 mint RCs on ebay at any given time, the light bulb will go off and there will be an influx into vintage that will make todays increasing vintage prices pale in comparison. Just the other night a PSA 8 tattoo orbit with a SMR of $185 sold on ebay for over $1200. you have more PSA 10s of barry bonds RC than you do the entire sport kings set in ANY grade. The supply of prewar is drying up. Dealers tell me all the time they don't have anything becasue its not like they have people coming in anymore with a folder full of prewar cards raw. I think we have seen the bulk of pre-war sent in and graded, and lets face it, there just isn't folders full of this stuff laying around because most of the people that collected it are long dead. And so are the cards.

sorry for the off tangent rambling, but its late and this new stuff just drives me crazy with its overly perceived "investment value" The supply on Barry will never dry up. EVER.

I have to agree with you...just look at how much unopened late 80s stuff is available...it's available by the ton.

I'd believe that there is no real long term investment to be had in it...like you said, there is just too, too much of it.

Another point that I've tried to make before is that the triple signatures/jersey swatch cards #'d to 5/ect... will decrease over time because there is the same type of card in EVERY set. As a huge Marino collector, I focus on the older oddball stuff that is tough to find because there wasn't much printed of the material and the print run wasn't manipulated by the manufacturer. I like a lot of the newer Marino game used, and GU/auto but I refuse to plunk down $100+ when the same type of card will be released in 20 other sets EACH year.

There are few modern sets out there that is worth collecting. The only one that I'm heavily into is the 1997 UD Legends FB set - which is a true classic and many of the stars are tough to come by (one could argue that the production run was manipulated by the manufacturer - which I can't disagree with).

  • Isn't he related to Willy Mays and wasn't the same said about Willy?
  • Would like to see an answer for this in pre-1981 category

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

this is along the lines of why I decided to collect only Topps after 1981, other than a few odd cards here and there,
and why to concentrate on pre-1975. Just way too many cards out today to try and get them all.

"There are a lot of great guys. So don't feel you have to meet them all."

Mays is Bonds' godfather. Another example is Ted Williams. From the accounts I've read, he could be a real a-hole sometimes. However, the memories fade and the stats live on. 20 years from now, the fact that Bonds was a dick will not affect his card prices at all, only overproduction and perhaps a strategically placed asterisk.
