Something I noticed on why the Dark side is better than the light side, why do you think it's better

I noticed when searching for light side coin, it's all about grade/condition.

However, when searching for dark side, it's the art and history that become prominent in the search, second to condition and grade.

That feels refreshing.

Why do you think the dark side is better than the light side?

Cause there ain't a lot of Big Cats, BBL's or cars on Lightside coins.image
  • Much more interesting designs and more history. Also, for the most part, one heck of a lot cheaper (even in the really high grades).

    Another thing.
No pissin'/moanin'/arguin'/fightin' and on and on and on.
The folks here are congenial, unlike the other side.
More rarity, lower prices, and more interesting coins in "the Dark"

Darkside coins are, for the most part, IMO, less expensive than similar grade liteside stuff, they are primarily more beautiful coins than most liteside ones, the history behind the coins is more fascinating, and there's a lot more of them to keep me interested.

Darkside forum ... well, the people here are a heckuva lot friendlier, and less judgemental than many litesiders, and they are much more willing to educate rather than berate.

  • This is the best general Darkside forum on the internet, no doubts about it.
  • All of the above, PLUS the people on the Darkside seem to be more well-rounded, accepting, and open minded than a few of the people I've met on other forums.

  • The coins are more varied and you do get more bang for your your buck. The folks on the lite-side have always been most gracious to me as have the dark-siders. But the lite-side does tend to go on some tangents and go on some harangues about some pretty lame subjects.

  • I prefer the darkside forum to the lightside forum. The mentality is TOTALLY different. The coins here are about beauty, history and while grades to play a role the grades do not make the coin. Also I have yet to see any of the "ugliness" on this forum that you see on the other, no personal attacks, no threats of lawsuits, no endless meandering discussions on AT vs NT.

  • Affordable.
    More variety.

Given those two factors, how can one possibly be rigidly judgmental as in the "must have coin 'x' to complete my set" mindset? Instead of getting anxious about spending big money on key coin, Darksiders can relax and buy four or five nice coins for the same money.

You tend to be broadminded on the Darkside (ooooh yeaaah); if you get turned off by one series/country, then there's always another to catch your interest.

Just what exactly are you saying about all of us, Susan? I know I need to go on a diet, but... image

But seriously, I agrree with what everybody is saying. The darkside holds much more interest to me because of the sheer beauty and history behind the coins. I also like chatting with all these well-rounded folks.

There are many reasons I collect Dark side here’s my top 5:
#5 - Can often be acquired at or near bullion prices (for gold and silver issues)
#4 – I don’t think there is as much speculation built into current prices.
    #3 - Variety, Variety, Variety
#2 - The challenge of building a collection of beautiful coins – isn’t centered on, or restricted by, price.
#1 – Hundreds, even thousands of years of world history is preserved and presented in metallurgical artistry - at prices the common man can afford.

I have pretty much the same observations as above.

This forum has some very knowledgeable folks. The answers to most questions come from all directions in record time.
