Odd surge of 68 Game (In Box) set form on Ebay

Seems strange.

I have seen 6 or 7 1968 "Game" sets in Box form on Ebay within last 60 days.

Is this normal?

No - it is not normal - but I think I recall about 2-3 years ago that a slew of these boxes were sold in a ScP or similar auction. Perhaps some of them are filtering their way through now....

I don't know about you guys, but this is a favorite set of mine. One of the first cards I ever got was the Carew when I was a kid. I've had it now for 30 years. Anyway, sorry for the memory lane bit. One question: are these cards considered easy to obtain in high grade?

Here is a link to the #2 set on the registry. It should give you a pretty good idea about the difficulty by checking out the pop & pop higher columns. PSA 7 commons can sell for a low as $5. This issue has a very bad centering problem but it seems to me that the that were issued in the boxes are centered much better than the ones that came in packs.

I dont like deck style cards, but i kinda of like this set.

its really affordable even in fairly high grade, its small just 33 cards and its nearly 40 years old plus it has a Mantle!

when you compare it to other topps special sets of the era like 64 stand ups and 69 supers, at least price wise, it really its a neat set.
