Poll: To go toners, or allow whites

I'm giving serious thought to doing the 1940-1945 shortset. I've already got three nice ones. Here's the thing, though; they're toners. It would be awesome to do a full set of toners. The problem with that is that it would be painfully taxing on the coin fund. So, I figured I'd do a pole to see what others thought.

While I prefer beautifully toned coins, a white coin, with an accurate technical grade, and totally original skin, can always find it's way into my collection. Toning has no exclusive on eye appeal.

hmmmmm Sounds like The best is getting the Best of you. If you like the toners but will be heavy on the coin fund try going maybe lower grade. I mean damn dude, you got Pop top going on! Not much difference in "Look" when ya drop maybe a grade point or 2. Especially when they are toners. This will help with the coin budget and the set will still look immaculate.

I Don't wanna sound crass or nuttin but, Another option is White coins. Nothing wrong with white coins. I prefer them over toners, Thats my flavor. Diff strokes for diff folks.

The "in" thing is toners these days. Being 'in" usually takes over Before you figure out why you like collectiong coins and why you like to collect certain coins.

I didn't vote......too easy to figure out. PURPLE

  • Hello all,

    Why not try both?

I would think, having a mixed set of white and toners "wouldn't look right" (not consistent theme). I like to put together collections of white coins for "technical" appreciation and see toners good for that "next level". image

I'd give you the world, just because...

Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

I have no problem mixing white coins and toners. There's something to be said for having a variety of looks on display if both whites and toners appeal to you. Either you like the coin or you don't.
  • For a short set... toners all the way! image Full set... mix and match image

I vote "show me the answers". I have no strong opinion one way or the other. Collect them and enjoy them any way you see fit.
  • That set is small enough that you can go for all toners.
