Cherrypick of the day.

Stopped at a local shop today and checked out proof and mint sets. Nothing caught my eye, except a 1971 proof set. I picked it up for a few bucks.

It has the nicest cameo 1971 half I have seen in a mint proof set. Nice, clean and deep watery mirrors. No toning. No marks. No hairlines. Also nice even frost on the obverse and reverse devices, though the obverse frost is heavier than the reverse frost. I was surprised at the look of the reverse, because the 1971's I have seen that show any obverse frost lack any frost on the reverse.

I do not know how great the mirrors and frost are on today's cherrypick. I remember prior posts, with pictures, about 1971 cameo halves by forum members. Would forum members who have made CAMDCAM 1971 halves please favor me with pictures of your coin(s)? I would like to be able to compare today's cherrypick with your pictures to evaluate my new acquistion.

Thanks in advance, SanctionII.

  • DCAM '71-S Halves are TOUGH!! Like you said, most will come with one sided DCAMs and the other side will be completely brilliant... this is what Marty says PCGS is really looking for...

JrGman2004, Nice picture of a 1969 DCAM. If a 1971 clad Kennedy could be found that looks like your picutred 1969, that would certainly make some news.

What I need is a picture of a 1971 DCAM. Do you have one?

By the way, my son and I really like your scared kitty icon. The cat looks like my son's cat, but I have never seen it look scared like your icon kitty.

Marty made one in PCGS 69DCAM recently (you're shocked, I'm sure image ) I made a half-hearted attempt to find the thread and couldn't, it was within the last two or three months.
