Opinions on this 1891-CC VAM 3 Morgan? (Warning - very large images)

What do you supposed caused the light scratches on the cheek? They're not typical of a cleaning.

Looks like Hairlines or slide marks. I have an 1878 rev 78 with the same problem. Limits the grade to 62....otherwise it's a moon coin.

I thought about that, but slide marks would be horizontal, not vertical unless there are some strange albums I'm not aware of.

Perhaps it was slid a few times on a hard surface.... I like the toning!!

A clue may be in what appears to be some type of fabric toning in the field in front of Liberty's face. But the color of the toning sort of looks like it may have been in contact with leather for a while. I remember seeing a Morgan that was kept in a leather pouch and it had an odd brown tone. image

    My opinion, don't know. image

I was thinking mishandling (ie....put down and then slid when looked at).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
