Was watchin coin vault last night and they had 3 examples of a Morgan Dollar from each of 3 mints, Philly, NO and San Fran for sale and the title was "POS BU Morgan Dollars." Too friggin' funny. image
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

  • I was watching CV because there isn't much on TV these days, I'd rather look at coins than watch some stupid TV show. But I did see that. I never even tought of the POS thing, which is actually very funny now. What I want to know is what is it that makdes tose dollars look so shinny and proof like. is it the lights on the set, do they super polish them or something....I've bought raw Morgans and Peace that were in better condition and even afer a little acetone, they never looked that good. they must be doing something foul.

Is POS a new grading service?

No, NGC. They are the top submitter to NGC. Getting a 70 is a matter of simple odds.

In this case, A NGC MS70 for $200 from them seems like one of the best deals I've ever heard come out of CV (Not that's it's a good deal...)
  • Isn't it true....with ASE's, especially "first strikes" that if you submitted lets say 10...odds are decent you'ld get an MS 70 or at least a few MS 69's????

I think the "first strike" thing is a promotional gimmick!

Since they swap dies out after X number of strikes, you're just as likely to get a "perfect" coin in June as you are in January.

It is completely unreasonable to believe you'll get one MS70 out of every 20 SAEs (A Mint Roll). All 69s happen, though.
