defunct web site?

While surfing the web, i ran across a site that offered some of the most incredible cards i have ever seen. I don't think i've ever seen so many high quality cards all in one place before. The web site is: www.prizesports.net. And yet, they are impossible to contact! Even via e-mail, my message bounced back with a "511" error message--something about not being on their customer list. Then i tried calling their toll-free number listed, and got some unrelated recording. Does anyone know anything about them? They sure had some mighty fine looking cards--and the interesting thing was, NONE of them appeared to be professionally graded!

  • The copywright on the site says 2001. I can't see how anyone would buy raw cards for those prices!
  • Well, i think i've been able to answer my own question about this outfit. I finally got through on their "yahoo" e-mail address, and was inquiring about a 1952 Bob Feller card. It was graded Near Mint and looked every bit of it from the scan. The price said $275. I asked if this was firm (thinking they might knock a few bucks off since it is not professionally graded). To my amazement, they wrote back and said that price was wrong--it has been "changed" to $375.!!!!!!!!!! At that point i told them to FORGET IT!!
