need vam help (if it's a vam)

1878 7tf anacs ms62

ID marks:
raised line under 8 in date (could be from repunched date, possible but inlikely)
"plucked freathers", there is no detail on some of the feathers look like they are gone
D in DOLLAR has weak lower part of the loop
support of A in in DOLLAR is larger than usual squshed(?)
footles R in PLURIBUS, weak L in LIBERTY

  • It looks to me like the arrow shaft is doubled, although it is not all in the frame of the picture. Which reverse is it, do you know? It looks like the L in LIBERTY is quite weak. I can't attribute with what you have but it looks a little like my VAM 45. If it is a long nock 7 TF reverse, it could be that.

  • That is the long nock, so I am thinking it is a VAM 70 but without the coin in hand it is difficult to say. The eagle's left leg looks pretty thick to me as well.

    Common vam-84, washed out L, missing nostril.

    Reverse: (and I quote): D of DOLLAR broken at bottom with just two lines remaining.
