Could this 82CC rattler upgrade?

Looks like a really nice upgrade candidate. Excuse the old plastic. There is a bad plastice mark above the date on the obverse and 3 bad plastic hits on the reverse, 2 on the top and bottom edges of the eagles right wing and one in the field to the right of the eagles left wing, and a plastic scratch from the S on STATES to the D on GOD on the reverse. It is in a 64 holder now. Opinions?

IMO- the hits on the face just at the lip may hold it ot a 64- ther than that a very nice morgie!

The strike is a bit weak for this date that usually comes well struck. I don't think it will make 5, I would leave it in the rattle holder.

Save your money. Strike is not good enough for a 65 (very flat at ear and eagles breast) and too many marks on face even for a CC

nice coin but no cigar for a 65... I think the obverse strike is alittle flat above the ear

I like the way she looks in the rattler holder, but I also think she sure does have a pretty face. One nasty hit to the mouth, but otherwise, nice face and fields.

Are you taking those images under flourescent lights? That blue tint in your images usually is caused by that.

I am being lazy Eric, I have 1 OTT light on the coin, but I left the overhead flourescent lights on also. I didn't tinker with the pic at all, so the result is tinted by the flourescent like you said.

You should be able to compensate for it with your white balance, set it to fluorescent.

You are right Eric, I should have taken the time and set my white balance properly. If you read this Eric, let me ask you a question. What is the difference between the FL1 and FL2 setting on the flourescent setting on a Nikon camera?

It's a fine tuning. You will find one setting good for regular flourescent light, and the other setting for the compact type that are used in place of regular light bulbs. I don't remember which is which, so just shot the same coin twice with it in each setting and see which one looks more natural.

Beautiful Morgan, and your pride wants the upgrade. That's like it should be, but this coin won't get in a 65 holder. Just be proud of it for what it is.

I have the 4200 Eric, Nice LITTLE camera. You are right Doug, but I think I like it in this old rattler anyway.

OK, I'm not familiar with that model, but just play with the various steps for the flourescent setting. One of them will do the trick.
