  • No, but I put a copper token in a 2 X 2 through a full wash cycle. I soaked it in olive oil for a few weeks and it seems OK now...

That sounds like it might be a great way to remove unsightly toning (or AT) from a coin image

  • I had a flood in the basement early this year and I had forgotten to unpack one box from the move to the house and a slab of proof coins got wet. I dried the cases as best I could but still noticed some rust forming about six months later...

I once put a large book of Doonesbury cartoons in. All that remained (besides a pound of paper pulp) was a thin, clear plastic-y membrane that (apparently) is applied to the front and back cover during the manufacturing process. It was kind of like cling-wrap. The folks at Andrews and McMeel got a kick out of it and sent me a new copy.

    Sorry, kind of OT.
