There was article about this card in SCD not too long ago. It's supposed to be incedibly rare - up there with the 77 Reggie Jackson on the Orioles kind of rare.
Collecting all graded Alan Trammell graded cards as well as graded 1984 Topps, Donruss, and Fleer Detroit Tigers
The Jackson came up on e-bay not long back. I bid around $ 3500. It went for over $6,000. When a PSA 9 Stanley Yellow went up on e-bay recently, I bid $990 something and the same bidder got it for just over $1000 ( merkle923) . It was the same seller who sold this 8. He says he found 4 in a unopened box he bought on e-bay some years back. In the same box he says he found one Yellow Wathan card. I know the Wathan does exist in yellow because I have one. I have been told, but can not confirm that there is also a Yellow Poquette and Braun. I do know someone who says he has both and plans to put them up on e-bay "soon"
Lemke has had the Stanley in the SCD Catalog for some time. He may now have the Wathan as well ( listed in the $6 range). In an article several months back he asked for confirmation that the card existed due to ongoing inquiries from people looking for it. If there are more out there, they should start showing up soon. I am just glad to be done looking for mine. I had been looking since 1983.
There are a couple variation cards in 80 besides the ones mentioned. The Stanley is the most commonly known. The 331 RICH HEBNER is another, but I am not aware of what the variation is.Plus there are a few others with multiple pop report listings and no explaination including 3 separate for the 387.
Another is the Astros card with and without Virdon's name on it.Sadly I had an 8 without it and didn't know it was a variation card.

Bishop, Welcome to the boards (it's about time). By the way it's "bobsbbcards", not "BobsCards" (who the he|| is that?) Bob
P.S. I bought the '82 Blackless partial set from Andy by the way.
The SCD Catalog lists the yellow Wathan and Stanley. I have been told there may be other yellows, including Poquette, Braun and McEnaney ( the latter from the seller of the Stanley). I have been told there is a variation of card 343, Vail, with a break in the upper left border. I would sure like to know more about the Hebner and Virdon variations; which I had not heard about.
Sorry, bobsbbcards. Congratulations on the partial Blackless set. Finding the rest of the C sheet cards may prove to be a chore. How many are you short ?
The Hebner I'm not sure about. The Stros team either has Virdon's name or it doesn't.That's the only difference I know of.
The Stanley has 3 pop listings: 1) Name in Red 2) Name in yellow 3) just Fred Stanley.I'm curious of the 3rd one because All I've ever seen were cards with red letters.
Nick,in 2003 at the Chicago Sun times show I asked Peter Ma about it thinking there were a bunch of errors I discovered in the Pop report.Inside a week, or two he corrected the suggested errors. Then a few months later everything corrected was returned back to the way it was.I emailed asking questions but nobody ever responded, so I don't know if what you think is 100% accurate, but maybe it is.I don't know.
<< <i>Any chance of an extra blackless Trammell? I've been looking for a long time for one! >>
Jim,
Unfortunately, that's one that I will still need myself. "C" sheet stars that will be tough for everybody are listed below:
Jim Palmer IA Mike Schmidt IA George Brett IA Tony Perez IA Gary Carter All-Star Fernando Valenzuela All-Star Eddie Murray Johnny Bench Alan Trammell Steve Carlton IA George Brett All-Star Rollie Fingers Rickey Henderson Willie Stargell Willie Stargell IA
Thanks for checking, Bob. I've only seen one Blackless Trammell and that was in the early 90's. Do you think that there could still be more blackless cards in packs out there somewhere? Jim
Hey, I just became a veteran as well!

I do not have an extra Palmer, but will check with Andy, he might. It is hard to believe an 80s set is this tough. This and the 88 Cloth have been frustrating.

Maybe I should leave a few dozen of my Fred Stanley cards out in the sun - bingo, name in yellow!
