2002-D Sac circulated

Just since I wanted to post something ...

I got a roll of Sacs to spend since the bank I was at didn't have any rolls of halves. Besides the expected 2000-Ps and 2000-Ds there was one 2002-D. It's got a fingerprint and some scratches but still neat to find one circulating.
Some call it an accumulation not a collection

  • I found a 2002-P a few months back while going through a roll I picked up for the poker game. Sure, it's only worth a dollar, but it's still cool to find a coin with a mintage of less than 4,000,000 in your pocket change, especially one that didn't come from a proof set.
My coins can beat up your coins.

I have only seen 2001-P's in circulation, aside from the 2000 P/D issues. The 2002 was a cool find.

    I got a 2005-P in circulation with a mintage of a mere 2,520,000.

I've gotten one 2002 D and one 2005 D, both from postage machines. The 05 looked brand new, too. I wonder what the story is.

The only time I've ever seen them is in the post office vending machines. (At least since the initial release in 2000 when I saw one or two in circulation).

I think what happened is some people bought the bags from the Mint, searched for nice coins, maybe made up a few rolls, then cashed in the rest of them.
