Why don't they ever show coins on the Antiques Roadshow?

I've seen bits and pieces, like the double eagle pocket watch mentioned here about a year ago. But I don't think I've ever seen regular, whole coins.

What gives? Do they ask people not to bring them? They could at least do a small piece on how to treat (ie not clean) coins.

Coins are considered their own field, unlike general antiques. I've seen one or two episodes with a few coins on them and one guy had a huge collection of medals once. The experts on the shows don't really know coins, though. I think.

There is a list of stuff that they don't want you to bring. I think coins is on that list.

There was an original Jefferson Peace Medal on a show a while back.

I would imagine that unlike other antiques and collectables, coins are very well documented. You can go to a library anywhere and get a rough idea of value. Probably much tougher for other items.

I saw that one. The appraiser made no mention of how the design was appropriated for the new nickels, and he also undervalued it by about 50%. He estimated it at $50k and according to jtwax' site the last one sold at auction realized over 100k.
