The NFL should have rules like college about celebrations,
because some mature grown men (TO and MOSS) can't seem to handle
themselves like adults should.
It's the reason he'll be shipped out of minnesota (that and the fact the owner is trying to dump the team and wants to run it on a shoestring budget)...and some poor team will be silly enough to trade for him.

Your man Tom Landry would have kicked the
you know what out of any of his players that
acted like that. He tolerated absolutely none
of that crap.
Well, they guy can catch anything but he's not the best WR in the game IMO. Granted, one may take the basic definition of a WR's job to only state he has to catch the ball, but this guy alienates his teammates as some of them indicated by him walking off the field before the onside kick in the last game of the season. Some players give everything they have whether they are on the field or not. When they are on the field, the run hard EVERY play and block even when the play is going to the other side of the field. They show support and enthusiasm even when the play is for someone else. They are happy to win, even when they have nothing in the stat book. If they don't get into the game, they support their teammates from the bench. Moss is not this kind of player. We have seen it time and time again. A player like this can destroy a team. These actions can lead other players to giving up. Why try hard every play when the guy who doesn't gets paid 10x more than you do? Moss doesn't make those catches without a quarterback throwing him the ball. Culppepper doesn't throw the ball without his lineman blocking for him. Moss would see triple coverage every down if they didn't have a runningback capable of moving the ball or Burleson running routes as well. He seems to forget that the "team" wins games, not just him.
In the end, I would never consider taking this guy in a trade. I would rather take Holt, Harrison, Ward or any other WR who not only can catch the ball, but seems to care more about winning that his numbers IMO.
I'm going to stand by the fact that he's made mistakes and he doesn't know how to articulate his feelings.
I think the media is painting an inaccurate picture of him.
I'll take him on my team any day.
What is funny is listening to Michael Irvin passing judgment on Moss when this guy was busted in a room with hookers and cocaine. What about Kobe Bryant's infidelity and rape charges. What about Michael Jordan's gambling and alleged infidelities. What about Babe Ruth's behavior.
I don't condone his actions, but what he did last week by walking off the field created the team unity and confidence that this team has been lacking. Packers head coach told Jimmy Johnson that he was afraid it would happen.

<< <i>Moss is a great player and citizen --- he does a lot for charities in Minny and West Virginia.

Well said.
HOF Quarterbacks Football
fingers you don't have to do stuff like that!

Ray Lewis gets TV commercials and gets high high praise by the large media outlets.
He was involved in a homicide and I believe perjured himself to authorities. He was acquitted but was directly involved in "his friends or associates" murdering someone in Atlanta during Super Bowl week.
Randy Moss moons the Packers, walks off the field 2 seconds before a game was over and tell Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist Sid Hartman that he plays when he wants to play. And he bumped a traffic cop that was deemed to be over-zealous at 1 MPH.
Randy Moss gets more bad press than Jayson Williams blowing away his limo driver with a shotgun and then trying to cover it up. Sh!t, he'll probably get off. The guys says he wants to make an NBA come-back.
It's a media frenzy. A lot of it has to do with how Moss treats the media and interacts with them --- They are getting him back.

But as you indicate by your replies, Moss is continually in the papers or on the TV displaying stupidity with many of his antics. The other people mentioned were in the news for much longer than Moss has ever been, but time has made most forget. Moss does this kind of stuff frequently enough that people presume this behavior is constant.
He may be a great player (when the play is designed for him) and a great citizen (when he's not running over the police), but he doesn't always display a lot of sportsmanship and that's what gets him in trouble with the media.
in a grown man's body, but then I thought to
myself that I've never ever seen junior high
or high school athletes do that either.
Imagine if you were at your high school football
game and someone did that. Well, we had a
"grown" man do that.
And there are people on this board who try to
tell us he is a decent human being.
I see your point. It's nice to hear that Moss does this.
I did not know.
I don't live and die with any football team. I just enjoy
the game. That said, I do care about professional athletes
setting a good example for kids. I teach kids in public schools,
so I hope that athletes respect the game they are playing,
and respect the influence they have on street kids with no fathers.
I'm glad to hear Randy Moss is doing positive things with his
status. But no, I would much rather have a Marvin Harrison
then a Terrell Owens or Randy Moss.
I think this is blown way out of proportion anyways, I enjoyed the celebration and good for the Packer fans getting a taste of their own medicine. I would take Randy any day on my team.
<< <i>Moss does a couple things that some people don't like and it's the end of the world. You never hear anybody say,"Oh, Randy Moss just scored a touchdown and gave that fan in the wheelchair a football." which happens all the time, heck, one time he gave the same wheelchair guy 2 or 3 footballs in one game. He pretend moons a few rednecks and the whole world wants his head on a stick. Get over it! He's a nicer guy than a lot of people give him credit for. The guy can score touchdowns pretty much at will, thats what really makes you people mad. I bet if he was on your team this wouldn't be such a big deal. >>
It's his attitude that turns many off, not his ability. As a youngster watching sports, there was rarely a time where you saw players talk about how great they are. They kept their mouths shut and did what they were being paid. Guys like Barry Sanders who never once did an endzone dance or Kirby Puckett who actually turned down a raise. In sports today, many players can't just go do their jobs. They have to talk $hit everytime they can and tell everyone how great they are. Many players like Kobe aren't always about winning, but more about whining because they are not the only superstar on their team. They actually think that the fans only go to the games to see them and don't think the fans will care if the team loses just as long as they have a great game.
I remember when Chauncey Billups came to the Pistons. Chucky Atkins and him are apparently great friends. He told Dumars to go ahead and actively pursue this guy as he is a great player. He did this knowing he would lose his starting position, but cared more about helping the team improve. There are not many players in sports like that...
As far as Moss giving away footballs, I've seen it and that's cool. Tons of players do stuff like that... Some publicly and some privately. They should as they are making millions or dollars playing a game we as fans pay them to. He has an amazing ability to catch some tough passes.
Nothing about his ability makes me angry as you say. His occasional lapse of sportsmanship does annoy me though.
<< <i>Call me old-fashioned but I do not act the same way in the presence of women as when I'm with my guy friends. >>
Ummm, you're old fashioned Actually my wife thought the gesture itself was kind of amusing. She was in no way offended "as a woman" about what Moss did. As I have indicated, to me the problem with Moss and many other players is the lack of sportsmanship. These actions can cause reactions from other players. You know the Packers players were very upset by the way the game was going. By seeing someone do something that could be viewed as disrespectful like that, it opens the door to possible reactions from other players. Remember Owens and the Dallas star bit? Same thing. There's no place for that kind of crap on the field.
Thank You Randy Moss, for being a role model for people all over the world, and for turning our women on for us. Thank You!!!!!!
I respectfully disagree. What Moss did was repulsive.
What the Pack fans possibly do in the parking lot is repulsive too.
Different strokes for different folks.
I'll remember when I tell your third grader in school that mooning
another child during the volleyball game is inappropriate, I'll know where
his influence comes from.
Your thought process amuses me, as you've got Jolie showing off her arse in your sig line. To reply back to me and say Moss' behavior is constant while what Lewis and Jayson Williams were involved or Kobe Bryant was involved in was a "one time" deal is terribly sad. Comparing homicide and infidelity with a fake mooning or walking off the field 2 seconds to early is pathetic.
Then to hear Michael Irvin passing harsh judgment on Moss while he was in a room full of prostitutes and cocaine!!! C'm frickin' on!!
My point is not to condone Moss' behavior. My point is that the media is thrashing Moss for this behavior and hasn't done the same to other doing much worse things. The media always gets the last word.

Well turning around to be photographed is a little different than acting as if you're showing off your a$$, but rationalize it however you may like.
By the way, if you actually read the words and posts in order as they were intended, my response would be clear. I'm in no way stating that the actual acts are comparable. Please indicate where I ever said the acts were comparable... Obviously what Moss did was trivial compared to the others mentioned. My response simply stated that we (and the media) no longer talk about them because it happened once a long time ago. When Moss does it, he doesn't seem to let people forget it before he does something else stupid so the cycle seems continual. So try to be clear on the intent and content of a post before trying to dismantle it.
This Moss thing will last till the end of next weekend when they're out of the playoffs. Don't act as if we didn't have to hear about this Kobe crap or the Williams trial for like a year. Poor Moss. The media jumps on him for a week or two...
