I am doing some sales on stuff I no longer want.
WHAT a hassle.

NOBODY can read. ....................... Well, ALMOST nobody.

I never used ebay except to dump the pawn junk.

wholesaled all the coins.

A couple weeks ago, I decided coins were no longer for me.

Amazed me how easy it was to put EVERY stinkin one in the safe deposit and not even LOOK at em no mo.


A relaxing pleasure actually.

I may change, but the crap on eBay has me dead set against acquiring any more.

Dave, that's GREAT advice. That's my usual remedy for live in general.

topstuf, I understand what you are saying and sympathize. For example, I recently sold a couple of cheap notes on eBay in this auction. Well, the auction clearly states that we only ship to the U.S. (on that particular lot but sometimes we ship worldwide). Anyway, a bidder from Belgium won the notes, which closed at $5.50. The shipping was $8.00. I had to ship Global Priority as I have had regular overseas mail to Europe take over 1 month. The eBay and PayPal fees were about $3.00, plus the cost of the notes were $3. So.....I lost money on that lot, mainly because it cost me $8 to ship instead of the $1 that I was expecting (we always pay for shipping and insurance). I admit that I was a bit frustrated, but it would have wasted more of my time if I had to negotiate with the bidder and exchange emails back and forth.

Bottom line (as Dave put it): you just have to learn to expect that you will be dealing with the good and the bad in any business. That brings us back to the whiskey.

Guys,
You must not be aware of some "enhancements" made by EBay several months ago. You can now block bidders outside the US, with bad feedback, etc.

Got to My Ebay, click on Preferences on the left side. Under Seller Preferences, you will see some choices. I have mine set like this:


Buyer requirements

Block buyers who:

Are registered in countries to which I don't ship
Have a feedback score of -1 or less
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days

Solves a bunch of headaches.

Barry, good advice. We usually ship worldwide, but I changed to just US in the last round of auctions because it was mostly cheap stuff. I will be more careful next time.

Thanks for the tip. I recently sold some fittings which were to be US only. Some guy in Korea bought them then gives me a neutral because he didn't know what to do with the pieces. Talk about dumb people. At least I got him to pony up the $32.00 for shipping a $19.99 lot.

Alpha Centari is over four light years away. The fastest know moving thing that we know of is light. So if they communicated the bid with light, it'd take four over four years for your auction to get there and four years for their bid to come back. I didnt know that ebay had 8+ year auctions. Man, can you imagin the number of stamps it'd take to get the coin there???? And it'd probably take about two hundred years for it to get there. Man... did you offer a return privilege? Geeezzz. That would be an extended deal.
